“In 1971, Charlie Solar was named the first-ever Clayton Citizen of the Year award winner and forty years later he is still #1,” said Norma Zimmer, Mayor of Clayton. “He truly is an inspiration to our community and respected by all of those who have had the pleasure to know and work with him.”
“It’s a pleasure and honor as the organizer of this event to be able to recognize someone, such as Charlie, for their hard work and dedication to helping make Clayton what it is today,” said Michael Folsom. “The pride and commitment Mr. Solar portrays should be celebrated.”
Solar will be honored during a ceremony on Thursday, June 16 in Frink Park where he will help to raise the Sailing Seaway Clayton flag to formally kick-off the weekend of festivities. At that time he will also be named the honorary dockmaster of the Thousand Islands Regional Dock for the event.
