Clayton, New York (May 2, 2011) – Sailing Seaway Clayton presented by Davidson Auto Group and Lake Ontario Realty announced today that items will be collected during the event, which will then be sent overseas to Fort Drum soldiers serving in Afghanistan.
Items requested for drop-off include: Phone Cards, Magazines, Tooth Brushes, Mouthwash, Body Wash, Deck of Playing Cards, Suntan Lotion, Hard Candy, Pens, Notebooks, Envelopes, Sun Glasses, Disposable Cameras, Travel Size Packets of Laundry Detergent, Powdered Single Serving Drinks, such as Gatorade, Kool-Aid and Crossword Puzzles/Word Searches.
“This is a great way for the community to make an impact in the lives of those fighting overseas,” said event organizer Michael Folsom. “If each person to visit Frink Park during the event were to bring just one item each, we could send an enormous bundle from Clayton all the way to the Middle East.”
Drop-off will begin on Tuesday, June 14 at Frink Park and run through Sunday, June 19.
Davidson Auto Group, presenting sponsor of the event, will also honor soldiers by hosting a group of Wounded Warriors from Fort Drum aboard tall ship Lynx on June 14.
