An estimated crowd of nearly 750 people gathered in Frink Park on Tuesday afternoon despite strong winds and overcast skies to watch as tall ship Lynx made its way to Clayton.
The Clayton Fire Rescue boat met Lynx at the Thousand Islands Bridge and escorted the ship to the village of Clayton while sending a shower of river water into the air.
Seaway tugs Robinson Bay and Performance were at the Thousand Islands Regional Dock due to a job they are currently on and blew a loud, long salute with their horn to welcome the ship.
"This has been 4 months in the making," said event organizer Michael Folsom. "This is the day we waited for and I am excited to see so many people here in the park enjoying the view."
Lynx is now open for public deck tours, check the daily schedule for times. The ship will remain in Clayton through Monday, June 20.
